We at West Sussex County Council provide services to more than 850,000 residents every single day. We are here to keep your families and children safe and educated, to look after you in your later years, and to help you stay independent for longer.
We provide a fire and rescue service that is there for you in an emergency and that works hard to prevent emergencies happening. We support businesses and your local economy and continue to develop and grow West Sussex to be a place you are proud to live and work in.
As a County Council we spend more than £533 million a year on your behalf and we take that responsibility extremely seriously.
In October 2017 we published our West Sussex Plan which sets out our priorities and commitments for the next five years.
The priorities outlined in the plan are:
- Best Start in Life
- A Prosperous Place
- A Strong, Safe and Sustainable Place
- Independence for Later Life
- A Council that Works for the Community
The plan contains our vision for West Sussex and how we will achieve it. It also sets out how we intend to meet those commitments and how you will know whether we have been successful.
